Tax Season Intern (Winter/Spring 2027, with Employment Opportunity)

Location: Shelton, Connecticut | Part-Time, In-Office

Accavallo & Company, a dynamic and growing full-service accounting and tax firm, is seeking motivated accounting students to join our team as Tax Season Interns. If you’re eager to learn, curious about public accounting, and ready to get real experience during the busiest and most exciting time of the year, we’d love to hear from you!

This is a hands-on tax season internship, ideally starting in January, with the opportunity for strong performers to extend into the summer. We know school comes first, so we build schedules around your classes. Interns commit to at least 4 hours per day, and students who are available over winter break are welcome to start early or put in additional hours then.

Why This Internship Is Different

Many internships keep students on the sidelines. Here, you’ll be part of the work from day one. You’ll prepare real individual and business tax returns and work directly alongside a manager on their book of business. That means seeing how a client relationship works from start to finish: gathering and reviewing documents, preparing returns, handling review notes, and understanding how a manager keeps a full client list on track during tax season.

You’ll gain practical skills you can’t get in a classroom, work with clients across industries such as construction, healthcare, real estate, manufacturing, non-profit, and food and beverage, and leave with experience that will set you apart when recruiting for full-time roles and pursuing your CPA.

What You’ll Do

  • – Prepare individual and business tax returns under the guidance of a manager
  • – Organize and review client tax documents and workpapers
  • – Reconcile accounts and assist with year-end adjustments
  • – Research tax questions and learn how to support your conclusions
  • – Respond to review notes and learn the firm’s review process
  • – Collaborate with team members to meet tax season deadlines
  • – Support special projects as assigned

What We’re Looking For

  • – Currently pursuing a degree in Accounting or a related field
  • – Completed or currently enrolled in coursework in accounting or taxation (preferred)
  • – Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • – Detail-oriented and deadline-driven
  • – Comfort with Microsoft Excel; experience with QuickBooks or tax software is a plus (we’ll train you)
  • – Availability to work at least 4 hours per day during tax season with some Saturdays
  • – A committed work ethic and eagerness to learn

Why You’ll Love Interning With Us

  • – Flexible scheduling built around your class schedule
  • – Winter break start option for students who want to get a head start
  • – Real tax preparation experience, not busy work
  • – One-on-one mentorship from a manager
  • – Exposure to a wide variety of clients and industries
  • – Opportunity to extend into the summer
  • – A supportive, team-oriented culture
  • – A potential path to full-time employment after graduation

Ready to spend tax season building real skills with a team that invests in your growth? Apply today and take the first step toward your career in public accounting.
