Senior Audit Manager/Audit Manager

Accavallo & Company, LLC is seeking experienced Senior Audit Manager and Audit Managers to join our growing and established firm.

This position is currently open in our Shelton office.  Audit Managers can perform most engagements independently. They direct and review the work of senior and staff accountants and can make almost all decisions on accounting and auditing matters. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Complete understanding and ability to follow the firm’s policies, procedures and core values
  • Possess technical knowledge sufficient to supervise staff and senior accountants
  • Review reports and financial statements Coordinate various phases of engagements and ensure work is on schedule.
  • Proficient at accounting and audit research, including a working knowledge of the referenced sources utilized by the firm
  • Possess a working knowledge of firm technology, including the use of audit software, applications and multiple accounting platforms. MS Word, Excel, UltraTax, ProSystem Engagement, Power Point and Thomson Reuters applications
  • Be involved in practice development and supervision of multiple engagements, assessing staff performance as needed
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with client management
  • Plan, supervise, coordinate all aspects of an audit engagement on a timely deadline schedule

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Involves work in the firm’s office or on the client’s premises. Work on the client’s premises may require the use of the staff member’s personal car
  • Must present a positive public image that enhances the client’s perception of the employee and the firm as a whole
  • Overtime work is required from February 1 through April 15 (“busy season”) and may be in excess of 55 hours per week Additional policies may be put into effect during busy season, i.e., no vacation or non-emergency-related personal time away from the office
 

SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Audit managers normally have a minimum of seven years’ audit experience (or equivalent experience as deemed appropriate by the partners).
  • Advanced knowledge of generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)/Tax Law knowledge.
  • Must be a licensed CPA or meet the requirements to sit for the CPA exam
  • Ability to work independently on assigned task as well as to accept direction on given assignments.
  • Able to work effectively with staff members, supervisors, mangers, and clients.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and present in a structured manner to a member of higher staff or client.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions and manage several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Must have good interpersonal and communication skills; and the ability to interact professionally with outside contacts. Examples of outside contacts include, but are not limited to clients and client personnel, government agency officials and bankers.
  • Should be detail-oriented, have good organizational skills and possess the ability to prioritize

Sherri Fisher is a Tax Manager at Accavallo & Company, LLC.  Sherri has longstanding expertise in Trust and Estate Taxation, Eldercare, and Estate planning. Sherri appreciates the relationships she has built with estate planning attorneys and advisors, to provide a team approach to assisting her clients. Sherri also has seasoned experience in business and individual taxation and is partial to assisting start-ups in developing overall accounting and operating plans.

Prior to joining Accavallo & Company, LLC, Sherri was a manager in a large firm, servicing high net worth trust clients, business, and personal clients. She was also a Partner in a large bookkeeping firm, which specialized in cloud accounting systems for regional and national companies. Sherri led a team in assisting clients to organize their accounting systems.  She is a graduate of Florida Atlantic University with a B.S. degree in Accounting.

Sherri enjoys time with her family, Cleveland sports, thrifting and gardening.
